The Cinnabar Mark

Synopsis
A botanist dies in a Costa Rican rainforest. A knighted man dies in a London study. Each body carries the same small red mark — cinnabar, the signature of Dr. Mann, a scientific genius who kills with the patience of a gardener.
Dr. Marsh wanted only to forget the war and lose himself in the night shifts of a London hospital. But when the spy Vane returns from the East with Mann’s name, Marsh is pulled into a secret war for the city’s survival — and toward Lena, a woman the enemy has made into a weapon.
To stop Mann, Marsh must do something far more dangerous than fight him. He must trust him. And behind Mann waits a colder intelligence still — a master Mann himself believed long dead, who has spent thirty years counting on being underestimated.
Some men breed death. One has been perfecting it for a lifetime.
