Synopsis

He lifted the fire to save the world. He did not know he was only taking the lid off the pot.

For eighty years, one great fear kept the powers from each other’s throats. Now that fear is gone, the small wars it was sitting on are igniting across the map, and the immortal king who disarmed the earth must answer for the peace he broke — by breaking it further. He builds a shelter over half a hemisphere: eight nations, three unbreakable laws, an open door at every point of the perimeter, and one ancient man standing in the gate.

In the burning south, his dark mirror rises — El Pastor, the Shepherd, who keeps his flock by the teeth and bars the door against the weather. And into Harald’s hand comes the last temptation of his endless life: a single lever that could quiet the wolf in every human heart forever, and end all the wars at once.

He built the safest thing in the history of the world. The question that will not let him rest is whether a roof no one ever has to leave is still a roof — or the wide soft top of a pit.

The Long Peace is a sweeping moral thriller about power, refuge, freedom, and the terrible difference between saving the world and keeping it.
